POND FISHERIES 101

Pond fisheries is one of the business type that can generate a high return. This industry has been commercial since early 1990's. I have 20 years experience in this industry as my family is one of the major player of the business since 1991. My father was the first entrepreneur to enter the local market. Now the business is operated by my sister.

Firstly, we must know there is only a few species of freshwater fish are suits to live in the pond. The species are:

1. Tilapia (red/black)
2. Carp (big head/asian/crucian/grass)
3. Perch (climbing)
4. Gouramies (small/black)
5. Sultan
6. Catfish (mystus/airbreathing/black)

All of the species are suits to farming because:

1. Easy to feed
2. Good durability (weather/disease)
3. Short period of farming (twice per year)
4. High demand
5. Good price (high profit)
